RCC-M (French Welding Nuclear Code)

Welding in the Nuclear industry is about quality not quantity. The welding is still in accordance with welding ISO standards but there is also another code you have to work with as well. This code is the RCC-M French code, this link will take you to the RCC-M code site. The code uses EN ISO 15614-1 and EN ISO 9606 series as the basis and then adds extra requirements. â€‹Welding Engineering Consultancy have worked with the RCC-M Nuclear pressure vessel code for a number of years with different clients. There are some key areas that need to adhered to, these are;

  • Acceptance testing of welding consumables - S2000

  • Qualification of the welding procedures (WPQR's) -S3000

  • Qualification of welders and operators - S4000

  • Qualification of the workshop - S6000

  • Qualification of production welds - S7000

Its not just about the welding, all the other aspects need to be in place to ensure you meed there specific requirements of the code. This includes EN ISO 3834-2 and EN ISO 14731 as defined in Annex S IV, these are welding quality and welding coordination.
