Welding Engineering

Welding Engineering is about understanding the welding process, learning different aspects about the process, developing your knowledge and then applying your experience. Mike has been a Welding Engineer for many years, but continues to learn new things every day. Welding is a huge area and it is difficult to be an expert in all areas. However, the key is to try and understand the problem, solving it by knowing where to look and understand what you have read. This will then allow you to apply the knowledge you already know to produce a successful outcome

Key points

Welding Process

Selecting the correct welding process to use is critical to ensure the product is welded efficiently and ensuring the quality is maintained. Mike can advise your company on different welding process, tooling or material selection if you are experiencing efficiency problems in production.

Welding Smarter

It's not about working longer to gain higher productivity, it's about working smarter, to increase productivity. A welding process is all about key inputs and outputs.

  • Look at the product or the process, can it be improved?

  • Can a different welding process be used?

  • Can a different material be used?

  • Can a different joint type be used?

  • Can the process be changed from a manual weld to a semi-automatic or automatic weld to remove the human element to ensure repeatability?

  • Can the tooling used or be improved to ensure repeatability?

  • Can the weld be moved to reduce distortion, can the weld be removed altogether and joined in a different way to stop the distortion?

Welding Engineering Consultancy can offer advice on any (or all) of these points which will help improve your company’s efficiency
