Key points

Welder Certifications (Codes)

These are the tests performed by the welder to demonstrate that they have the capability to produce a repeatable quality weld on a repeatable basis. These are the tests of the welder’s skill NOT the parent metal welding. They follow a WPS and weld a part which gets tested in accordance with the standard being followed.  Download HERE some useful information about a welders test.

Ensuring the qualifications are the best range for your company is key. Many companies don't seek advice when they need a new welder tested they just get the size or joint they need for the contract. With some advice your company can still achieve the contract requirements, but you could increase the range for future opportunities and save money over time, consequently you will not need to have so many welder’s tests. This will save money for the company over time.
