BS EN 1090 or ISO 3834 Accreditation

Is your company interested in achieving BS EN 1090-1 and/or BS EN ISO 3834 accreditation? The standard requires a Factory Production Control (FPC), controlling all your process to ensure sustained quality.

EN 1090 and/or EN ISO 3834 accreditation might be important to your business's long-term future, this is an analogy for your understanding of how it works

If welding was the gloss paint on wood and everything looks shiny and perfect on the outside, the ISO 3834 accreditation checks that the painter has used the correct sandpaper, the paint was the correct type and the undercoat was applied correctly. If the process was not followed correctly the gloss will peel and flake or will only last one summer. If FPC (EN 1090/EN ISO 3834) accreditation is in place, then someone has checked the sandpaper, the paint type and application of the undercoat. There will be procedures and the quality in place to ensure the paint will last for many years.

Key points

Different Aspects

There are different aspects to BS EN 1090, for example Initial type testing (ITT) to assess the manufacturing capabilities (not just in welding). The welding control stated in BS EN 1090-2 defines that welding shall be undertaken in accordance with the requirements of the relevant part of EN ISO 3834 (2, 3 or 4). The RWC is responsible for the welding process and BWEC can help write different process control documents for the areas detailed in BS EN ISO 3834 that are specific for your company ensuring compliance with the standard.
